
Dr. Meredith Amaya-Hodges is a pediatric neuropsychologist and licensed clinical psychologist. She has extensive experience in helping children, teens, and families reach their full potential. She specializes in working with preschoolers through young adults with a large variety of developmental, psychological, and medical concerns. In addition to providing comprehensive assessments of ADHD, learning disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and other neurodevelopmental diagnoses, Dr. Amaya-Hodges has particular expertise in evaluating and addressing prolonged recovery from concussion. She also focuses on neuropsychological assessment of depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Regardless of the presenting concerns, Dr. Amaya-Hodges takes a strengths-based, whole-child approach to neuropsychology. She integrates test results with a variety of other information sources to develop a thorough picture of each client. She works with families, schools, and other treatment providers to translate evaluation findings into a specific action plan that best supports a child’s success.
Dr. Amaya-Hodges’ distinctive work in neuropsychology stems from her top-tier training and employment at some of the country’s leading institutions. She earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology, child/adolescent focus, from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. As a graduate student, she received formal training at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She completed her internship in pediatric psychology and 2-year post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology at Children’s National Health System in Washington, DC. She was then appointed to the faculty of Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School. Most recently, she served as co-training director of an internationally recognized, APPCN-approved postdoctoral program in pediatric neuropsychology.
